Our OBA Hall of Fame features cool people 60 and over! Eddie Angel is an international rock star and one of the founding members of America's favorite instrumental rock and roll bands: Los Straitjackets. And what could be cooler than that?
Along with his partner Danny Amis, AKA "Daddy-O-Grande," Eddie and Los Straitjackets led the wave of the rebirth of instrumental surf music. Along the way their music, and their masks have been featured in movies like "Psycho Beach Party" and they're regulars on popular TV shows including Conan O'Brien. And their Christmas albums and shows have become legendary!
Now in his 60s, Eddie Angel is still rocking and has no plans to retire any time soon. We sat down with Eddie and his amazing wife Melanie to talk about how they stayed so close through 33 years of rock and roll, how they raised their terrific family––and where some of Eddie's songs came from.
