ASK.
Always ask to see if a senior discount is available! Sometimes a retailer or vendor will offer the discount in one location and not another, OR they may not advertise it. It's always worth it to JUST ASK.
COMPARE.
Do some research and find out which comes out better for you. Sometimes AAA offers better rates than an advertised Senior Discount. This is super important for things like prescriptions -- GoodRX, AAA and AARP all offer discounts on prescription drugs, and their prices are often better than most insurance plans. Be a nerd, and find the best option!
VERIFY.
Before you book that hotel or go to your favorite restaurant, make sure the discount you want is available. Sometimes the discounts have an expiration date, or you'll find the program has been discontinued.
